Things to know about Invisalign

When deciding to get Invisalign treatment, it is ideal to know what you are getting from the service.

People in the past may have gotten Invisalign thinking it would deliver different results.

Or, they may not be sure about the pricing associated with the service and would like to have a better understanding.

1) Invisalign is made for your teeth

Those who have brought Invisalign know that the product is custom-made around your mouth and teeth shape.

The process of getting your customer aligners made is simple!

With the help of 3D technology, an iTERO scanner is used to take a scan of teeth and gums.

2) Can work faster than metal braces

Unlike traditional braces that can require a minimum of twenty-four months, the same results can be given in 6 to 12 months from Invisalign.

In comparison to metal braces, Invisalign does not need to be worn 24/7.

And, the patient can remove it when eating food, drinking and brushing their teeth.

The amount that it needs to be worn depends on each patient’s individual case.

3) There are alternatives

In case Invisalign may not be right for you, there are always alternatives that can deliver similar results.

  • Ceramic braces: They have the same shape and size as traditional braces, but are more popular due to their tooth-coloured/clear brackets that make them less noticeable.
  • Incognito braces: The orthodontic brackets are attached to the inner sides of the teeth with lingual braces.
  • Inman aligner: An aligner is a treatment option for individuals with modest crowding and alignment concerns, allowing them to correct their smiles in as little as 6 to 16 weeks.
  • Six-month smiles: It is a system of white wires and brackets that works for all teeth and is more inconspicuous than standard stainless steel braces, making it ideal for people who prefer a less visible brace.

The best procedure would be recommended to you by your dentist based on the condition of your oral health and the results you expect.

4) You won’t pay more than you should

Your dentist will determine the cost of Invisalign treatment depends on your unique needs, such as the length of treatment and the type of correction you require.

Some dental practises may provide an up-front cost of how much the treatment may cost and flexible payment plans.

You will likely be quoted the same price for treatment when going to different dentists, but some may be more generous with their pricing.

However, if a price feels too good to be true, I would recommend being cautious.

5) Keeping the aligners clean is important

Whilst Invisalign may provide more benefits to their alternatives and have a hassle-free approach to using it – they still require good upkeep.

Ensuring the aligners are properly kept clean and stored hygienically is very important.

See here for information about cleaning the aligners.

Isle of Wight Council’s Ventnor Botanic Garden is leading an initiative to bring hops growing back to the Island.

The famous attraction has teamed up with local brewery Goddards to produce a bitter called ‘Hoppiness’ that will go on sale in late September.

The Isle of Wight used to be Britain’s fifth-largest grower of hops until production slowed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and today there are no commercial producers of hops on the Island.

Hops that will be used in making the beer are currently being grown at Ventnor Botanic Garden under licence. The project is also contributing to the garden’s role of educating visitors about the importance plants play in our everyday lives.

Many local ingredients will also be used to produce the bitter, helping support Island producers under a project called Green Food Miles.

Simon Goodenough, Curator at Ventnor Botanic Garden, says the attraction instigated this initiative to produce an exclusive beer made largely from Island ingredients. He said “When you buy a pint of bitter in a pub, for example, you probably don’t realise how many of the ingredients have to be imported from much further afield, this is obviously not environmentally friendly.

“We are keen to support a scheme to highlight the importance of hop growing and bring the tradition back to the Isle of Wight because we used to be one of the main areas in the UK for its production.

“We are very happy that Goddards Brewery wish to be involved in this seasonal project and thank them for working with us”

George Brown, Isle of Wight Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for the Economy supports the scheme enthusiastically. said “Any further means of reducing the national carbon footprint by not carrying ingredients across the Solent must be welcomed.

“This initiative not only increases Isle of Wight production, using local ingredients but also ensures that money is earned in the local shops and gardens that supply ‘Hoppiness’. I hope that every visitor to our beautiful Island will sample and enjoy this sun-drenched Island beer”

It is envisioned that ‘Hoppiness’ will only be available for a short time at a selected number of outlets on the Island after the launch weekend, which is scheduled for the last weekend of September at Ventnor Botanic Garden.
